First Days of school

This "first day of school" finds me not in the classroom. I am okay with that. I will not miss the stress of preparation and grading papers. I will miss daily contact with the students and staff at WHS. I am going to volunteer in the library once a week and am looking forward to that regular contact with the friends I have there.
I had breakfast with a best friend this morning, much more relaxed than taking role and trying to learn all the new names of students entrusted to my care.
I had to stop and wait for a family on their way to their young son's first day of school. The Dad was pushing the stroller with the 2 year old, then came Mom and finally bringing up the rear of their parade was the looked to be kindergarten student. He was proudly carrying his new backpack! Took me way back to the first days with my sweet children. Yesterday, my son posted an adorable first day picture of our granddaughter. I adore experiencing the "coming full circle" of life. Being a grandparent is indeed an awesome experience.
